LuLu's Living Library

I am a bookaholic and I admit I have a problem, but I do not want help resolving this problem because honestly it's an amazing problem that involves an ever-expanding library with thousands of tales to be read.

{Bout of Books 15} Would You Rather Challenge

Would you rather lend books to someone who dog-ears pages or to someone who reads with cheesy Cheetos fingers?

I would rather lend books to someone who dog-ears pages because hopefully not as many pages will be irrevocably ruined as a result.

Would you rather be able to meet one character of your choice or meet one author of your choice?

I would rather meet one character of my choice because sometimes I feel as though I relate more to the characters than the authors.  I think I would feel awkward meeting an author whereas if I was meeting a beloved character it would feel like coming home.

Would you rather never be allowed in a book store again or never be allowed in a library again?

I would rather never be allowed in a library again because unfortunately I just do not frequent the library as much as I did in my childhood so I probably wouldn’t miss it as much as by drug dealer (I mean the bookstore).

Would you rather have to choose one of your favorite characters to die in their book or have to pick one of your favorite couples to break up in their book?

I would rather choose one of my favorite characters to die because death is an eventual fact of life and does not necessarily have to be seen as final...love can transcend death...and sometimes love can be undead, too.

Would you rather be required to read Twilight once a year for the rest of your life or The Scarlet Letter once a year for the rest of your life?

I would rather be required to read Twilight once a year for the rest of my life because I actually finished that book...unlike the Scarlet Letter that I have to DNF because I just couldn’t...not even once in my life.

{Bout of Books} Read-A-Thon 15

I'm going to try!  The timing of this read-a-thon is the worst for me, but I love the idea of it so much that I just have to try again!

Bout of Books
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 4th and runs through Sunday, January 10th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 15 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character - Paul Tough

We had an event today that took up most of my time, so I was not able to read as much as I really wanted to.

{Bout of Books 14} Road Trip Challenge

Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors because her bibliography is so lengthy and varied.  For this reason, I have decided to take a road trip from the East Coast to the West Coast of the United States using only Nora Robert's books.  Below is the itinerary for my road trip:

  • 1st Stop: Nora Robert's home state of Maryland & the setting for her very first novel

  • 2nd Stop: Greenwich, Connecticut

  • 3rd Stop: Chicago, Illinois

  • 4th Stop: Montana

  • 5th Stop: Oregon

  • 6th Stop: Monterey, California

{Bout of Books 14} Character Soulmates Challenge

Her Royal Spyness (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #1)One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2)

The Characters: Belinda (Georgie's Best Friend) from Her Royal Spyness Series by Rhys Bowen + Ian (Bone's Friend) from The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost

Ship Name: Belinian

Reason: These two characters are unattached (at least for now) in their series.  I really did not want to pick a character already in a relationship in their own respective books (no home-wrecking here). I think Belinda and Ian would be a good match because Belinda is very adventurous and good with secrets, which are two important characteristics for someone in a relationship with a vampire.  I think both characters have simliar senses of humor and are always willing to help out their friends in need.  I think Belinda would love Ian for who he is, appreciate his sense of humor, and would be willing to stand by his side in battle.  I think Ian would love Belinda's sense of adventure, appreciate her independence, but yet still be protective of her.  However, their relationship would not be without problems.  I am 100% positive they will have their share of "heated discussions" because they both have strong, independent personalities, but I think when they make-up the sparks will fly.
